Residential Summer Camp
Staying away from home at a Summer Camp is a really exciting experience for young people. The week at camp gives everyone the opportunity to join a community, make new friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime! This page will give you more details about life at a residential summer camp, including where you’ll live, and our fantastic staff team who will be looking after you.
We care for our campers 24 hours a day and their welfare is our main priority. On arrival at Varsity Summer Camps, your child will be shown to their house for the week and introduced to their House Team Staff. The accommodation in our houses is ideal for children, with a mix of comfortable twin and single rooms. All of our Houses also have great social spaces for Campers to relax, unwind, and spend time with their new friends. Staff are on hand day and night to ensure your child has their needs met throughout their time at Varsity Summer Camps.
Our comfortable Houses provide purpose-built accommodation, designed to feel like a home away from home. There is a mixture of single and twin rooms available. All Houses have fantastic common rooms and social spaces for children to relax in. Boys and girls live in separate houses.
Each morning starts with a house meeting, led by the House Team, where the children can come together in a positive start to the day with a gentle stretch or yoga activity before breakfast. At the end of a very busy day of activities, they get to relax with their friends and have juice and biscuits before lights out.
There will be inter-house competitions and weekly challenges where houses will compete for points (and ultimately prizes!) for their house team. Team Captains will lead their team through the fun and excitement!
Dining, Health, and Nutrition
We take food nutrition seriously, we know the benefit to campers of being well-fed and well-nourished! All meals are served in the Dining Hall, by our fantastic team of chefs!
Breakfast is plentiful and includes a cooked option several times a week. Fruit is available throughout the day. For lunch and dinner, exciting hot cooked main meal options (including a vegetarian option) served buffet style, are provided. We also provide a salads with lunch and dinner.
Our catering teams make sure there is a wide range of healthy, nutritious, and most importantly, delicious food on offer throughout the summer!
Outside of our timetabled activities everyone gathers at The Hub, Varsity Summer Camp’s social space. We recognise the importance of providing down-time during very energetic days and in this space, campers can relax, hang out with their new friends, and take part in more relaxed social activities. For those who have more energy to expend, our dynamic House Teams are always organising quick games and activities to continue the fun. The Hub is always supervised by our House Teams.
Our House Teams
Each boarding house has a House Team who are dedicated to ensuring every child is safe and well and enjoying their time at Varsity Summer Camps. Our friendly and nurturing House Teams are supportive individuals who have a wealth of experience of pastoral care in residential settings.
Our House Teams support relaxation time as well as continue the fun outside of scheduled activities. You will find them present at all break times, dining, and house times, encouraging friendship and fun. They are super competitive and will want their boarding house to be the best! There will be inter-house competitions and weekly challenges where houses will compete for points (and ultimately prizes!) for their house team. You may also find they have decorated the boarding houses and arranged surprises for our campers!
Our Activity Teams
Our Activity Teams are outstanding individuals who are chosen for their special expertise in a particular area, whether that be in sports, creative arts, performing arts or baking! Their number one job is to deliver a wide variety of fun activities, bringing enthusiasm and energy to our Activity and Club programmes. Our Activity Team love working with children, always thinking of new ideas and activities to entertain, and will ensure every camper has the best Varsity Summer Camp experience!
Safety and Welfare
The safety and wellbeing of all students is our number one priority. Campers are accommodated on-site in secure and comfortable boarding houses during their stay with us. Our friendly and caring camp staff team is available 24 hours per day to support campers and parents, and we have 1 staff member for every 5 campers.
Varsity Summer Camps is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We have a comprehensive Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and procedures in place to which all employees are trained in and expected to adhere to.
